The Asia Foundation Hosts Meeting on Pakistan – Afghanistan Trade Cooperation

Kabul, November 19, 2015 — On November 16, The Asia Foundation’s Afghanistan office hosted a stakeholder coordination meeting under the Pakistan – Afghanistan Cooperation on Trade project in Kabul. Participants included representatives of the Afghan business community, the government and the Pakistan Embassy.

The participants unanimously agreed that cementing the economic relationship between Pakistan and Afghanistan through bilateral investments and better trade mechanisms is an outcome both countries are interested in achieving through enhancing economic dialogue. The Afghan business community expressed confidence that basing the Pakistan-Afghanistan relationship on sound economic fundamentals and business friendly policies will result in peace and prosperity for the people of both countries.

The Vice Chairman of the Afghan Chamber of Commerce and Chairman for the Afghanistan and Pakistan Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Khan Jan Alokozai led the discussion, accompanied by Honorable Mohammad Aneel Zafar, Second Secretary of the Pakistan Embassy in Kabul, Azrakhsh Hafizi, CEO Oil and Gas Union and Shirbaz Kaminzada, President of the Afghan Industrial Union.
